Before I Forget
I've had these pictures lying around in the computer for a while now, but have completely forgotten about them until now. They are pictures of a particularly grotesque, late medieval German crucifix, if I recall the captions correctly. So yes, morbidity seems to have been a truly Catholic-- in both senses of the word-- characteristic feature of Christian art. I guess this puts to rest that Spaniards just love their gore.
Adoramus te Christe, et benedicimus tibi; quia per sanctam crucem tuam redemisti mundum.
